Rosalie Shaw APHC 2017 Bursary – Applications Are Now Closed

The Asia Pacific Hospice Palliative Care Network (APHN) is inviting applications for the Rosalie Shaw APHC 2017 Bursary for delegates attending the 12th Asia Pacific Hospice Conference in 2017.

This bursary is named after former APHN Executive Director, Dr Rosalie Shaw, and aims to help delegates from developing countries attend the conference.

What is being offered

  • 20 bursaries valued at SGD500 each
  • Priority will be given to Nurses and Allied Health workers, as well as persons who are unable to obtain other sponsorship.

To qualify, you should be

  • from a developing country, and
  • a member of the Asia Pacific Hospice Palliative Care Network (APHN).

    (Annual membership starts from USD10 and entitles members to a SGD75 [about USD50] discount on the APHC 2017 registration fees).

Applications for the bursary must be submitted online by 14 May 2017.

Shortlisted applicants will be notified via email on 19 May 2017.

If awarded the bursary, you must register and pay for the conference by 25 May 2017 (you will be allowed the early bird registration rate). Otherwise, the bursary will be offered to another delegate.

The disbursement of monies by the APHN Secretariat will be on a reimbursement basis on receipt of original receipts and/or invoices.

Asia Pacific Hospice Palliative Care Network Bursary – Applications Are Now Closed

The Asia Pacific Hospice Palliative Care Network (APHN) will be offering 4 bursaries for members to attend the 12th Asia Pacific Hospice Conference in Singapore on 26th July to 29th July 2017.

Each successful applicant will receive support of up to SGD 1,100 which is meant to help the cost of the conference registration, travel and accommodation.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Must be a current individual member of APHN
  • Application is supported by 2 other APHN members
  • Must have an accepted abstract for the APHC
  • Must submit a report on the benefits of attendance within 3 months after attending APHC
  • Preference will be given to applicants who
    • Work in a palliative care service
    • Are from developing countries
    • Have not received sponsorship for attending regional and international palliative care conferences

IAHPC Traveling Scholarships – Applications Are Now Closed


The International Association for Hospice and Palliative Care (IAHPC) will be providing twenty scholarships to support the travel of palliative care workers to attend APHC 2017.

Applicants from all disciplines are welcome. In order to apply for a traveling scholarship, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Have not received grants from IAHPC in the past 3 years
  • Are current IAHPC members. If you wish to apply and are not an IAHPC member, you may join by clicking here.

Preference will be given to applicants:

  • Living in Lower, Lower-Middle and Upper-Middle income categories as per the World Bank income classification data. See here.
  • Applicants who have been IAHPC active members for two or more consecutive years.
  • Actively working in palliative care.
  • Graduated less than 10 years ago from specialty or medical school
  • Have an accepted abstract for poster/oral presentation. Proof of acceptance of the poster will be required.

All winners of the scholarships can apply the scholarship funds to off-set the cost of their travel and accommodations. More detailed information about the application process and the online form are available at the IAHPC website here.

All applications must be submitted to IAHPC by 28 February 2017.  Results will be announced in April.

Rosalie Shaw Travelling Scholarship – Applications Are Now Closed

APHNThe Asia Pacific Hospice Palliative Care Network (APHN) is inviting applications for the APHN Rosalie Shaw Travelling Scholarship for delegates attending the 12th Asia Pacific Hospice Conference in 2017. This scholarship was created in honour of the former Executive Director of APHN, Dr Rosalie Shaw, to enable APHN members from resource limited countries to attend the Asia Pacific Hospice Conference. The successful applicant will receive support of up to SGD 2,200 to fund the conference registration, travel and accommodation.

Applicants must meet the following eligibility requirements:

  • Must be a current individual member of APHN
  • The nomination must be supported by 2 other APHN members
  • Should display leadership qualities and must work in a palliative care service
  • Demonstrate contributions made to palliative care development in applicant’s country of work or residence
  • Must submit an abstract for the APHC 2017
  • Must submit a report on the benefits of attending APHC 2017 within 3 months after the conference
  • Must not be a recipient of any grants from APHN in the past 5 years

Preference will be given to members who have not received sponsorship of any kind for attending regional and international palliative care conferences.

All applications must be submitted online by 31 January 2017.
