Biography

Dr Annmarie Hosie is a registered nurse and early career researcher with expertise in palliative and aged care. She is a Post-doctoral Research Fellow within the Centre for Cardiovascular and Chronic Care, University of Technology Sydney.

Her doctoral research – The DePAC project – examined delirium epidemiology, systems and nursing practice within inpatient palliative care settings. This research contributed to a better understanding of delirium occurrence for people receiving inpatient palliative care worldwide and in Australia; the need to develop corresponding health care systems; and the steps nurses can take to improve delirium outcomes for people. Findings informed the inclusion of palliative care patients within the remit of the Australian delirium clinical care standard.

Dr Hosie’s current program of research is focused on developing interventions to optimise cognition and function for people with advanced illness.
