Biography

Dr Poi Choo Hwee is a consultant in Department of Palliative Medicine, Tan Tock Seng Hospital, Singapore. She first completed specialty training in Internal Medicine in 2010 and went on to complete her Palliative Medicine specialty training in 2012. In March 2014, she was awarded a fellowship (Health Manpower Development Programme) to learn the experiences of integration of palliative care in Intensive Care Unit (ICU) in Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Centre, New York.

Since 2014, she is appointed the chairperson of End-of-Life Task Force Intensive Care Unit Sub-committee where she leads ICU-Palliative Care collaboration in all four ICUs in Tan Tock Seng Hospital. She published an editorial on End-of-Life care in Intensive Care Unit in JAMA Internal Medicine 2015.

Dr Poi is an Adjunct Assistant Professor with Department of Medicine, Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, National University of Singapore where she assists in curriculum planning for undergraduate palliative medicine education. She is a faculty member of the National Healthcare Group Internal Medicine Education Committee (IMEC) and Program Evaluation Committee. She is also the Subspecialty Education Coordinator for Palliative Medicine at the National Healthcare Group Internal Medicine Residency Program.
